Against the stream, the autobiography of A. F. Howells, plus a summary of the typescript. Describes his early years in Sydney where he became involved with socialist and union causes, and Anti War Movement. He and his wife then travelled the countryside selling women's underwear, jewellery etc. They went to Spain as observers during the Spanish Civil War. Settling finally in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. Comprises Part I: The Seeker. Part II: Double harness.
